One Hour After School:
Angelina, Angelika and Angelala asked their music teacher for an hour of rehearsal after school. Miss Robinson said yes, on one condition: keep your grades up.
That hour turned into a group which became an eternal bond.
All Three Of Their Names Start With Angel:
They are best friends before they are a group, and it shows in everything they make.
They Called It The Nest:
A storage room in the church basement with a secondhand keyboard, a Bluetooth speaker and a whiteboard covered in chord charts. It was not much. It was theirs.
Miss Robinson handed out notebooks, because she believed writing things down made them real. They stacked harmonies, crossed out lyrics, wrote better ones, and argued about which of three dance steps went where.
From their notebook
Rise up, rise up, got places left to go,
They say it can’t be done, but watch us, watch us soar —
Three girls from Harlem, gonna open every door.

The Teacher Who Said Yes:
Miss Robinson runs the music program. She wears a caramel coat and a small silver music note on a chain, and she checks homework before she checks harmonies.
The girls trust her completely. That trust is where the whole story comes from.
Rise Up
One of the songs at the heart of The Harlem Angels.
Then everything changed.
Just as their music starts opening doors,
an unexpected turn changes the journey for all of them.
Start at the beginning.
